Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Koudo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment.

The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is a student of Class D, which is where the school dumps its “inferior” students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination and was put in Class D. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyou Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka’s situation begins to change.

  1. Recently I’ve been thinking about learning Japanese because I want to read this LN independently 😀
How difficult is this novel to read? I dont think it is super hard because there arent so much descriptions and stuff, but I have no idea. So is this a considerably hard text? And do you have any idea how many years will it take me to learn Japanese well enough to understand this novel if I study everyday for 2 hours?

    • To understand a novel like Youkoso fully without outside assistance will take most learners at least two years, even with dedicated studying. Youkoso is a relatively simpler novel as well. That said, the sheer size of the vocabulary of Japanese will take a learner time, not to mention the kanji, grammar, and nuances of how the language works.

      • Mau tanya jadwal keluar per volume ny gimn min ?seminggu sekali kah? Atau sebulan sekali ??penasaran sma lanjutannya😂

    • Also note that 2 years is really my estimate after assuming 2 hours per day for a good portion of it and completely independent reading. You can read much earlier with Dictionary assistance, although your speed will suffer accordingly.

  2. Hello, first of all, thanks for the work you have done, it is much appreciated, I wanted to ask how long the estimate would be for Vol 3 to be ready? Thank you in advance.

      • Dear Graze it’s not like I am complaining about the translations. I fully apreciate them. But, could you tell me where I can read the part of the guys in youkoso proving that the guy(Sudou) is innocent in the fight ? I was reading till they repaired the girl’s camera and then suddenly it s was the island part( I watched the anime so I king of understood but is was complicated) . After, when I was reading the chapter of the final exams it was told that Kushida betrayed the D class in the sport events although i don’t even knew that a sport event happened. Maybe I am the dumb one and didn’t the chapters. But I really read all of them in sequence and the story seems to jump from one part to another. Can you clarify this to me ? My first language is not english so if I appeared angry or something is my fault hahaha. Thanks for all the hard work. I am really addicted to this novel.

      • You’re fine. You’re clearly reading the series out of order. I only hold translations for V1, part of V2, V6, V9, V10, V11, v12, V14, and V15. The other parts of this series are not on my website.

    • Hello!

You’re free to wait for my free, high-quality translations that I pour hours into nearly every single day, or you’re free to wait for Seven Seas to catch up in 2 years or so. I genuinely do not care which you choose. I work a full-time job and I have a social life, two things that I prioritize before slaving away for your benefit.

It’s absolutely unfair for you to act like I don’t take this seriously. I pour hours upon hours upon hours into every single part of these novels, trying my best to make sure that my readers get the best and most faithful reading experience physically possible. The lack of speed is more than made up for by the dramatic increase in quality and accuracy, and if you can’t notice that, then that’s your own fault. Why should I give up my hobby, something I find passion in and that I have fun with, just because an entitled reader wants to read the story faster? You can go translate the series yourself for all I care!

Kindly think about the comments you write before you post them, because this is entitled and shameful.

      • The translation work for this series is honestly breathtaking. I’ve never read a series this well-translated before, and even if it takes a while, I eagerly await your translations because the quality is so high. If some other translator were to do it, while it may be faster, it would end up being much worse. Thank you so much for translating this series, I always look forward to reading the new translations.

      • Just knowing people like you put so much effort and personal time into translating these things properly impresses me immensely–especially for a language like Japanese which is very contextual and just so different from English overall. Having read through some unreadable machine-translated LNs/WNs the difference is incredible; honestly for the most part it’s been hard to tell a difference between these and Seven Seas

      • Hey Graze,

I have read all your translations and subsequently buying 7 seas adaption (because I dont want to cheat the author and publisher so we continue to get more LNs) when available and can honestly say that your translations are on the money. I appreciate that you have to put in a significant amount of effort for each one on top of a normal busy life.

I just want to say thanks, although I (like many others), don’t regularly say thanks by writing comments, I genuinely do appreciate all the work you put in.

Hopefully, this helps counter the hater comments.

      • “you’re free to wait 2 years for SS to catch up,” lol this. And even then, fan translations are usually better. You can absolutely tell when a fan can read moon and when they’re not primarily editing a machine translation. Love the project you’ve done so far, can’t wait for the next installment, and if there’s any way I could help (still about a year and a half from being able to read moon myself, sadly), I’d love to jump in and do whatever I could.

Thanks for the hard work, graze.

    • Hi ! Seriously, can’t you make the difference between poor and rich English ? Reading is a great pleasure when words are well chosen and style is fine. If you can’t wait a little more, you’d better learn Japanese. Bye.

    • Davi, this kind of comment shows me how much people can be PREDICTABLE and EVIL THANKS in any part of the world. I am from Brazil, and I enter EVERYDAY here to follow these WONDERFUL translations that graze does, and to this, THANK YOU for the excellent work. Of all the animes I have seen (and there were few), I consider this work to be the best I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and I am HUGEly grateful to you for the excellent work you do here. Thanks!

    • Soon I hope. It’s really long and the content of the part isn’t exactly the most interesting. I really hope to have it done in a few days. Ideally 2 days from now, but it could be longer.

    • Hey Graze, thanks for all the work ! Would you mind telling me when I should expect new parts of Volume 15 to appear ? One every week ? Two weeks ?

      Like

      • It depends on the size of the part. The one I just posted today was very big so it took a while. The parts for the foreseeable future are short and will be much easier to manage.

  5. Hey Graze,Thanks for the hard work work you’ve put in the translations. The language and expressions were clearly expressed to the many readers of the series like me. Your translations are really the best and the quality of the translation is the best. Thank you for working so hard and even publishing it for free. We really appreciate your work and Thank You!

thanks for putting so much effort into translating the story for fans like us
i would like to know is the year 2 volume 4 on hold for now
i have been checking the website frequently but their’s no update
if its under work pls take your time

      • just checking. i think prime might be glitched or delayed. once or twice i’ve noticed that when you post a new part, there’s a lot of extra comments from the previous part that wasnt there before, as if the website was delayed or comments just werent showing up, maybe that could be happening for prime but with parts. also just checking about new part if ur planning to do a multi-part release later or are just busy, given ur last ETA

        Liked by 1 person

      • I decided to translate the full chapter and post it all at once due to a concern with the translation of the title. Hence the delay. I’ll elaborate when I post C2P2 here in a few hours.
